Tips & Tricks for Blogging + 900 Followers Giveaway!

It's finally been that point where I've reached 900 followers on Bloglovin'! I still can't believe it!! And for that special occasion I want to share some of my blogging tips and tricks with you but also host my first ever giveaway to give you the chance to win a gorgeous WordPress template from Bites to Brand!

But first I want to share some essential advice for newbie bloggers and for those who want to constantly improve their blog - like I do!

1. It takes time
When I first started my blog about one and a half years ago, I thought I would be "successful" right away. After a few months of not receiving many comments or earning many new followers I thought I was doing something terribly wrong. But then I realised that blogging is something that takes time. Some bloggers might get more followers faster than others, some might just update their blogs twice a week and still not reach the goals they've set for themselves. It will still work out at some point.
For this year, for example, I've set my follower goal to 1,000 and all I want is to have fun and meet lovely new people on the internet and do what I love.

2. Make sure to want to improve your skills
Again, blogging is about improving skills and the most important part to me is to improve your writing and photography skills. I'm definitely not an expert when it comes to writing perfectly in English or when it comes to taking photos of objects, people, etc. yet. I'm still learning but I also want to improve especially these two skills of mine because they're essential for me as a blogger. Of course I would love to take amazing photos or write so fluently that people won't realise that I'm not actually a native English speaker, however, I do try my best and I do want to improve so I can be best at what I love.
Also just realised there's lots of love in this post, isn't it? haha :-D

3. Connect with other bloggers
It's so important to connect with other bloggers or social media users because it will be so much easier to become a part of the community if you do so. I barely connected with anyone and I'm still at a very low level at doing so but it's one of my new major goals for this year to meet as many new people on the internet and maybe even bloggers in real life as possible. I think it's just amazing to get the chance to talk to people who are just as interested in something as you are.

4. Never let anything or anyone get to you
Of course there will be people on the internet who won't like what you write about or how you design your blog whatsoever. But it shouldn't really matter to you because as long as you're happy it's all good. If you want to write about your favourite eyeshadow palettes, write about them. If you want to change the colours of your blog from green to yellow, nobody will stop you. Just do it. Everything you do and write has to be of your liking and only to your liking. If you're happy with your blog and everything around it: p e r f e c t!!

5. Stay organised and be aware of dates
When I began blogging, scheduling posts never came to my mind. I only blogged when I thought I had a good idea for a new post but never really thought about a set day or time to upload. After half a year or so, and being indulged in so many amazing blogs, I reorganised my blogging set up and now I always plan ahead - as far as it's possible since the last year of school is already being a pain in the a$$ *sorry for that* - and make sure to update regularly twice a week. Also, make sure to never get lost of what you first wanted to blog about.
Lilies Beauty was intentionally meant to be a beauty blog and nothing else because I wasn't really into fashion or lifestyle stuff when I started it. Now, however, I would love to do more fashion posts and more exciting beauty posts but I somehow think that it's not yet possible for me to do so. I will try, though, to post more exciting things in the coming months!

6. If there's something you don't like, change it
It's almost the same as point 4 on this list. As you may or may not have noticed, I changed the design of my blog just recently and I'm so happy with it! However, I do have the feeling now that the content doesn't fit in with the new and fresh design so I want to do kind of a "restart" and plan, organise and write new and better posts with better photos, etc.
So if you don't like the design of your blog anymore, think about getting a new template or think about some new topics to write about that you think your readers would really enjoy!
