Life Update: June

This photo was taken a while ago already but I really liked it for this post - it's a bit dark and grungy, though, it doesn't really represent my current situation very well! It's the opposite of "dark and grungy" actually. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I try to post these "Life Updates" every three months, so the last one I did was in March and I do remember the day I sat down to write that post was the last full day I had to study for my second A-levels exam... So glad it's all over now!

April and May haven't been exciting at all - I went to school a couple of times to write those exams and then go back home to relax or study for the next exam. However, I got lots of stuff done for my blog and spent a lot more time with my family as well.
Apart from getting my dress for my Graduation Dance fitted, nothing else happened that I think is worth mentioning here.

The month of June, however, turned out to be a bit more exciting for me! On the 1st we got our results in school and I gladly passed all the exams and got my A-levels. I still can't believe I actually passed!
After that, my boyfriend and I went on a little weekend getaway together and had the loveliest three days. It was so relaxing and I hope there will be a few more weekends like that before I move back to Berlin in August - there are only like 50 days left!?
On the 16th we then got our A-level certificates and had the Graduation Dance on the 23rd, which was probably the most amazing night ever - post coming next month! One day later my boyfriend and I made our way London and we now still have three more days left and really want to make the most of them!

It's been such a lovely year so far, even though I had all those exams and stuff, but it all eventually paid off in the end. I really hope the next three months will be just as exciting, with me getting my own flat in Berlin and starting my apprenticeship in a bank!
I will make sure to get back to you with another "Life Update" in September! :)

How's life been for you so far this year? x

5 Things: What Makeup Has Taught Me

"It always seems impossible until it's done" - Nelson Mandela

This quote has been the one on my mind for a long time now and I thought it would be perfect to include it in a post about all the things that beauty and makeup have taught me.

Someone once told me when they saw the photo of me on my old ID card: "Nobody would come across the thought of you having a beauty blog by looking at that old photo!" - I still don't call myself beautiful but I've made myself look a lot more presentable than when I had that photo taken years ago!

Coming up with this blog had also been the time I first started using makeup properly. Before that, I would watch tutorials and beauty videos but never try any of that myself. At some point, though, I just went for it - just like I did with my blog. And so the journey of blogging, beauty and makeup started...

It's quality, not quantity. I always wanted to have as many things of one category as possible because I thought it would be best that way. Now I know that the quality of a product is much more important than the quantity. It really is worth to spend the extra €10 on a mascara or concealer sometimes because the quality is a lot better in most cases.

The Naked Truth. I'm aware of the face that stares back at me when I look in the mirror and most of the time I don't like it. Sometimes I'm happy with how my face looks without any makeup on and sometimes I just want to start crying because of all those spots and the redness on my nose. I have big ears and my eyebrows don't look the way I want them to. My upper lip is too thin for my liking and my face is too round.
There are lots of things that I don't like about myself but using makeup and talking about all these products has made me realise that it's just the way I look and I should be okay with that. Everyone looks different but beautiful in their own individual way and we've got to appreciate that.

What looks good, what doesn't. Sometimes I want to go for a bold red lip and a smokey eye but I know that I just can't pull that off. It doesn't suit my personal style or my personality in any way so I make sure to go for lighter and more natural makeup looks - and I don't mind that. These kinds of looks have become my favourite and I must admit that I feel really pretty sometimes, knowing that I have something on my face that actually looks good.

It's okay to say no. There are days where I just don't know why I started a makeup and beauty blog in the first place. I'm not even good at applying makeup so why should I tell other people about it? I feel quite unmotivated on those days and it makes me sad to know that I have such thoughts running through my mind. But then again I force my mind to remember that it was the best decision I've made so far - to start a blog and start doing my makeup - and that it's completely normal to feel down, uninspired and unmotivated sometimes. So I tell myself "No not today, just let me be and I will get back to it another day." and everything will turn out fine.

Organisation is key. Blogging and doing my makeup both have taught me to be a lot more organised in life and with everything else that I do. Especially when it comes to my makeup collection, I like to have everything organised and clean because makeup does have an expiry date and nobody likes to use makeup that's already dried up and disgusting! I have a good look through my collection every other month to sort out the things that I don't like or don't use and give them to my family and friends, hoping that they will use the products more than I did.

Makeup has taught me a lot of things as you can tell and I'm sure I will learn much more throughout my next few years of blogging and doing my makeup.

Tell me a bit about the things makeup has taught you! x

June Favourites

Throughout the month of June, I have been loving quite a few things! Most of them are beauty products which I started using every day this month, but there are some lifestyle favourites in here as well!

Let's start with my makeup favourites from June. The first thing I want to mention is the L'Oreal Miss Baby Roll Mascara - I've just posted a review on this mascara a few days ago so you can go check out that one to see how much I love this! ๐Ÿ˜
Staying with the lash theme, I have also been loving the Red Cherry Eyelashes 'Sage'*! I wore these to my Graduation Dance the other night and I got so many compliments on my lashes! They're such a gorgeous pair of false lashes!

In my recent Tarte Haul, I picked up the Shape Tape Concealer in the shade 'Fair Neutral'. I wasn't very keen on it when I first tried it to be honest but after the third or fourth try, I finally started liking and eventually loving it! I will also post a Tarte Haul Update with much more detail very soon so stay tuned for that!

I've also been loving the Makeup Revolution Renaissance Glow Palette! It's such a gorgeous face duo and I've been using it almost non-stop the past month or so!

Now on to some skincare bits from this month's favourites list! Yesterday, I already talked about the Garnier Pure Active Sensitive Anti-Blemish Clarifying Tonic, which is such a great skincare product and I really enjoy using that!

The next two products, I had already mentioned in my previous post featuring Skin Chemists - the Radiance Enhancing Eye Serum* and the Lip Plump*! Both of them are absolutely incredible and have worked some wonders on my eye area and my lips!

And last, but not least for skincare products is the HighDroxy Porify Solution*, which is a pore refining toner and I use that every single day. Ever since I got this from my Blogger Club Box, I have seen a huge difference in the size of my pores and I'm so glad I got the chance to try this!

Yes, I've also jumped on the bandwagon with these Fidget Spinners and I actually really like this when I'm a bit nervous or feel anxious in certain situations.

What have you been loving this month? x

Garnier Pure Active Sensitive Anti-Blemish Clarifying Tonic

I recently purchased this Garnier Pure Active Sensitive Anti-Blemish Clarifying Tonic at Rossmann because I had seen the TV adverts and some reviews on the internet before and I really wanted to try it! I had been looking for a new pore refining face toner to use in the morning and in the evening and this seemed like the perfect product!

This toner comes in a 200 ml bottle and the product itself has a transparent gel-like consistency, which feels quite nice on the skin, especially after taking off my makeup in the evening! I always use a few drops of this on a cotton pad and take off the leftover dirt and makeup all over my face.

My skin feels very soft afterwards and I definitely see a difference in my complexion; it helps very well with pimples and blemishes too. But the best thing about this is that it really calms my skin, especially my nose. I've been suffering from Rosacea for about five years now and this toner really helps with the redness and the tight feeling I have after taking off my makeup.

I was pleasantly surprised with this toner because it's not expensive at all, it feels and also smells very nice - quite fresh and a bit floral, I'd say - and it's great for my skin type.

I can't really see a difference in the size of my pores, though, I don't mind that at all because it helps with blemishes and redness so that's fine.

There are also some other products in the Pure Active Sensitive range from Garnier and I'm really looking forward to trying a few more of them!

Have you tried anything from this range yet? x

Today's finally the day - I'm going to London!! This is one of the most exciting days for me in a really long time!

I once did a post like this about 30 Things To Do In Berlin because it's my hometown and Berlin is just a beautiful city for sightseeing, shopping and meeting new and interesting people. So I thought "Why not do a post about things to do in London?" - I've been to London before and I almost love that city as much as I love Berlin, to be honest, and that rarely happens with cities for me. It's either Berlin for me or nothing, ha! :P
But with London, it's the complete opposite - I almost feel at home there. It sounds SO weird but it's just how I feel about the city and everything else about it!

L’Oreal Miss Baby Roll Mascara

Today's finally the day of my Graduation Dance and I'm SO excited! I love my dress and everything else that I'm going to wear - got a tiara as well, of course! - and I can't wait to have the first dance with my boyfriend tonight! Very excited, yet very nervous as well... I'm a loser at dancing! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

However, today's post is not about my dance, it's about my new favourite mascara - the L'Oreal Miss Baby Roll Mascara!

I mentioned this in my recent Highstreet Haul and I was so excited to give it a try as I had seen many good reviews about this mascara already!

Let's start with the packaging! I have always been loving the packaging of the L'Oreal mascaras but this one is my favourite so far! The pastel colours go so well together and I just love them!

The brush of the Miss Baby Roll Mascara might look a bit scary when you first open the bottle but it's amazing for applying the mascara evenly and from the roots to the tips of your lashes. This mascara has seriously stepped up my lash-game by 110%, I tell you! I've been getting so many compliments on my lashes lately - always wearing this mascara, of course - and they look incredible all day long!

It's the first time that the TV adverts actually show the "real" effect of a mascara and I didn't expect that at all! I might go as far as saying that the Miss Baby Roll has replaced my Maybelline Lash Sensation Mascara and that's been my all time favourite mascara for years!

I truly and highly recommend this mascara! It's such an affordable and incredible product and I'm not exaggerating or anything - this mascara has truly changed the way my lashes look throughout the day!

Have you tried this one yet? If so, how do you like it? x

€30 Highstreet Challenge With Nessi Cannelle

My lovely friend Vanessa from Nessi Cannelle and I decided to do the "Highstreet Challenge" a little while ago - we decided to go for a €30 budget each and thirteen categories in total.

We had about a month and a half time to find the perfect product(s) for each other in each of the thirteen categories, not spending more than €30. It was SO much fun shopping all these bits and bobs and getting them ready for her "Challenge Box". I must admit that it was fairly easy as we've known each other for a couple of years now and we also have the same taste in almost everything, ha!

Our categories were - "Get something...":

1. weird - Spring Hair Remover

2. useful - Book 'Braided Hairstyles'

3. yummy - Cupper English Breakfast Tea

4. for skincare - Balea Konjac Sponge

5. pretty - Rose Fairy Lights

6. for €1 - Essence Glossy Kiss Lipbalm 'Strawberry Kiss'

7. from my childhood - Colourful Swirly Lolly

8. for Summer - Sun Dance Sun Lotion & Schwarzkopf Summer Repair

9. refreshing - Emoji Deodorant '#fruity lollipop'

10. sparkly - Pillow Case

11. decorative - Scented Tealights

12. my favourite product - Balea Cream 'With Love'

13. with a pretty packaging - Balea Shower Gel

She did really well with her selection of products, I must say! I love everything and I can't wait to give all of these a try and start using them! ๐Ÿ’–

I think she wants to do a post on her box as well very soon - I will link to her post as soon as it's published here!

Would you like to do this "Highstreet Challenge" as well? :)

5 Beauty Benefits Of Exercise For Summer - Guest Post by Ida Jones

Regular exercise is extremely significant for shaping up our body. It is exercise through which our muscles are toned, the chest is chiselled and we can easily carry on routinely tasks that demand more energy. But, as Summers approach, we all feel lethargic while going out for a run or hitting the gym each day due to excessive heat.

Let's just not forget that there are a lot of beauty benefits that are paired up with exercising even in the Summer. So, apart from your body, let your skin radiate beauty, confidence and grace too!

Fast Anti-Ageing Process
It is pertinent to note that exercise and workouts are the best medicine against ageing. In Summer, you might hate the idea of sweating a lot but that is the time when your body wears off more than usual. Exercise and workouts keep the skin tight and get rid of any prospects of wrinkles to appear on your skin.
With daily exercises in Summer, your body rescinds the stress hormone Cortisol. Cortisol is the one that destroys the protein Collagen, which helps against ageing. Furthermore, it intensifies Serotonin and Dopamine production, which keep wrinkles at bay.

Bearing Glow On Your Skin
You can't even think of being radiant with glowing skin all day long in Summer. But let's remember that when you exercise your skin cells obtain nourishment due to enhanced blood flow.
So, when you work out in summer, despite all the sweat, you are letting your skin flush out the toxins. This means that you don't need to get oil controlling facials or a spa appointment, just keep wipes with you. Your skin will be healthy within no time.

Long And Healthy Hair
As mentioned above, exercise increases the blood circulation that promotes the growth of hair. How it happens is no science. Our hair follicles are stimulated, which in turn lets your mane flow with good length. Boost up your hair care by letting your hair down in inverted position for daily 4-5 minutes.

Natural Detoxifier
Yes, you don't need to run after particular diets or drinks, if you are exercising the right way in summer. The excessive sweat that excretes from your body cleans all the pores and harmful elements out of your system. So sweat is the natural detoxifier which keeps your skin healthy.
Other than sweat when you exercise during a hot and humid weather you are more inclined to drink an excessive quantity of water. Drinking more water is another way of keeping your internal organs healthy with a prolonged fight against potential threats.

Acne is one of those things that all the mature women are struggling to get rid of. If you weren't exercising because you thought that you are healthy enough, exercise for the sake of your skin now. Exercise helps your skin to clean the pores all dead cells and excretes out the sebum. It also unclogs the pores and minimizes the production of sebum by your hormones. And, if you are not ready to go out on a hot Summer day, you can always buy a weight bench or a treadmill etc to exercise at home.

Queen Of The Day EdP

I hope you all have had a lovely Sunday so far!

Today I want to share this lovely Shopping Queen fragrance with you! Shopping Queen is a German TV programme that's been on for quite a few years and I love it! When I heard they want to bring out a fragrance I was stoked and I knew I had to try it!

I was lucky enough to be sent this fragrance by a PR company - you should have seen my face when I opened the parcel this was in!

I got the Shopping Queen "Queen Of The Day" Eau de Parfum, which retails for €12.95 at Rossmann. There's another one which is called "Midnight Queen" and I think I will purchase that one myself very soon as well!

Like I did in my review of my beloved YSL Black Opium I had to look for the notes of this fragrance on the internet because I'm rubbish at describing scents, ha! But I eventually found everything to list down all the notes of the "Queen Of The Day" EdP for you guys!

Top Notes

Middle Notes

Base Notes

This fragrance has become my absolute favourite and is my go-to scent by now! Of course, I still use the Black Opium fragrance but only for special occasions!

It also has a stunning packaging with that little flower detail and the gorgeous glass-like cap on top and it was so much fun taking photos of it - I thought the idea with the little tiara was quite cute so I just went for it! :)

Like I said before, I just absolutely love the scent of this perfume and I can't wait to try the other one as well!

What's your favourite fragrance at the moment? x

One Sweep Eyeshadows #2

Swatches (left to right): p2 020 'Champagne' and 010 'Rosรฉ'; Catrice 030 'Copper and Paste' and 040 'Brown to Earth'
I can't believe I'm going to London in a week! It's insane how time flies! But I'm beyond excited and so grateful to be able to go on such a journey with my boyfriend! ๐Ÿ’“

For today's post, I want to show you some eyeshadow sticks that only need one sweep and a bit of blending for your everyday makeup look! I have two from Catrice Cosmetics and two from my p2 Cosmopolitan Chic box, which I recently did a post about as well.

Let's start with the Pump Up The Glow Eye Blur Pens from p2. There are two gorgeous shades - 020 'Champagne' and 010 'Rosรฉ'.
When I first used them, I had to warm them up quite a bit until they were creamy enough to actually put on the lid but once I was able to apply them, they had a really pretty and great colour payoff! Now they glide on very easily and are super easy to blend as well!
Both the shades also feel very creamy when you blend them with your finger and it gives these eyeshadow pens a more minimal yet very pretty finish. Due to their more minimal finish, I like to use them for most of my everyday makeup looks and they look amazing all day long and give just the right amount of colour to the eyes!

The other two one sweep eyeshadows I want to talk about are the Catrice Cosmetics Stylo Eyeshadow Pens in the shades 030 'Copper and Paste' and 040 'Brown to Earth'.
They glide on very easily and blend beautifully as well! Once they're applied to the eye you just have to blend them a bit and you're ready to go. Both of the shades also have a bit of shimmer in them which makes them even prettier as it's not too much to wear for an everyday makeup look!

They are a bit of a pain to take off, though. I always have to use a two-step routine for taking off my eye makeup whenever I use these - first I use a makeup remover wipe and afterwards, I use the Garnier Pure Active Sensitive Anti-Blemish Clarifying Tonic on a cotton pad and put that all over my closed eyes and let that do its magic on removing these eyeshadow pens without me having to roughly rub them off!
There are also a few more shades in this range of eyeshadow pens from Catrice, but I only picked up these two in my recent highstreet haul!

Overall, I love all four of these and they're perfect for on the go as well! I especially love using them when I'm staying over at my boyfriend's house and I don't want to bring loads of makeup with me.

What are you current go-to eyeshadows? x

L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation

It's finally Friday! I'm getting the certificate for my A-levels today and it's quite an exciting event - hundreds of people watching me go on stage, all those lights and cameras... Terrifying!! But I'll manage, I hope! :P

You may or may not have noticed that I changed the time when my blog posts are being published which is now at noon. I just feel like it's a way better time to upload rather than 9 o'clock in the morning. Let me know your thoughts about this! :)

For the review today, I've chosen the L'Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation in the shade 01 'Porcelain'. I had mentioned this in my Ride or Die Makeup Tag as my go-to foundation and of course, I'm still using it almost daily!

This foundation feels very lightweight on the skin and makes it look incredibly dewy and glowy! The coverage is definitely buildable but I like to apply only one layer of this to even out any imperfections on my skin before applying any other products like concealer or bronzer.

The shade 01 is such a perfect match for me as well! The cushion foundation from Maybelline - from which I also had shade 01 - got a bit darker throughout the day and I just didn't like that. It was also way too yellow for my skintone so I eventually got rid of it. This L'Oreal foundation is the complete opposite for me! The shade is perfect and it stays the same all day long!

I really love this foundation as it has the formulation, texture and coverage I've been looking for for ages! BB creams have too little of a coverage for my liking and sometimes foundations are a bit too heavy for me or I just don't feel like wearing one. With this, however, it's the perfect combination of both a BB cream and a foundation!

When you apply this with a foundation brush, you will get a lot more coverage than when you apply this with a makeup sponge. I rarely use this with a brush, though. With my damp makeup sponge, it gives just the right amount of coverage that I want and need on my skin.

Overall, I absolutely love this foundation and I'm so glad I randomly purchased this a while back! It's such a great and lightweight everyday foundation and it makes your skin look amazing as well!

Have you tried this foundation yet? If so, how do you like it? x

Summer Outfit feat. Zaful

Today I finally have a new fashion post for you! I've been so excited to show you guys this outfit and I'm really looking forward to hearing what you think!

On my latest Zaful wishlist I mentioned this floral romper that I instantly fell in love with and luckily the lovely June from their team asked me if I wanted to place an order based on what I would like to use for an outfit - so I got this hat, the rosegold watch and the floral romper!

For the rest of the outfit, I wore my H&M sunglasses, my brown leather sandals and my beloved grey handbag!

In the next order - either I'll place that one myself or maybe I'm lucky enough to continue working with Zaful - I really want to get one of their white collar dresses and their bikinis! They are SO pretty and they're perfect for the summer time as well!

I really hope you like this new outfit post and let me know what you think about it! x

p2 Go With The Flow Matte Lip Creams

๐ŸŒน Happy Monday! ๐ŸŒน

I thought I would do a post about these lovely lip products today, which are the p2 Go With The Flow Matte Lip Creams. I already mentioned them in my p2 Cosmopolitan Chic Limited Edition post a while back when I showed you the whole collection as I had won it in a Facebook giveaway!

There are three shades of these matte lip creams - 010 'London Chic', 020 'Milan Fashion' and 030 'Berlin Lifestyle'.

London Chic is a very light pink shade, which would look almost white on pale skin tones, I reckon. It's actually too light for my liking and that rarely happens with lip products! Milan Fashion, on the other hand, is a deep berry toned shade, which is gorgeous and looks stunning when applied! The last one, Berlin Lifestyle, is a medium brown shade with a hint of a mauvy undertone, if that makes sense, ha! But it looks gorgeous on the lips - I never thought I could pull off such a lip colour but it actually looks quite pretty.

Once they've dried, they are very matte but also very dry on the lips! I always need to apply a clear lip gloss on top, otherwise, my lips would look all cracked, dry and quite disgusting actually. With a gloss, they're absolutely fine, though!

Because these lip creams dry very matte, they stay on so much longer, in my opinion. Even with that gloss on top, they still last all day long but are a bit of a pain to take off in the evening...

I also wish they had a few more shades in that range, maybe a few darker nudes or something! Then I would have many more gorgeously packaged lip products on my makeup table as well! *heart eyes emoji*

How do you like the sound of these matte lip creams? x

Tarte Haul

I don't know what got me thinking I could just easily spend €130 on makeup from Tarte but I'm not regretting it at all!

A few weeks ago I placed my first order on Tarte and it finally arrived a couple of days ago - you should have seen my face when I saw the postman holding that package!
I can honestly say that this order was simply placed because I had seen these products on the internet everywhere and I wanted to get my hands on them as well! So I put four products in my basket and was a bit shocked at the amount of money these few products had raised, but I was even more shocked about myself when I actually clicked the 'Pay now' button! Like... What was I thinking?! €130?!

Well yeah... And like I said, I don't regret it. I got what I wanted and it made me cry a bit when I saw those red numbers reduce the amount of money on my bank account. But that's the life of a makeup loving beauty blogger, isn't it? *sigh*

So let's talk about the products I got now shall we?
The first thing that made its way into my basket was the Shape Tape Concealer in the shade 'Fair Neutral' and I'm beyond excited to try it for the very first time! I've seen SO many Bloggers and YouTubers rave about this product that I've got very high hopes and I would be devastated if this doesn't work for me...

The Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara was the second item that I got and can we just take a moment to appreciate all this pretty packaging? I'm very picky when it comes to mascaras so this better be a great one and work on my lashes too!

Of course, I had to get one of their eyeshadow palettes as well so I got the Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette, which is absolutely stunning and I can't wait to try it! I'm also eyeing the In Bloom Clay Palette - I hope the Amazonian Clay one is great so I can pick up that one as well soon, ha!

Last but not least I got one of the Color Splash Hydrating Lipsticks in the shade 'Siesta', which is a gorgeous brown nude shade - reminds me a bit of my MAC Velvet Teddy actually.

This is everything I got from Tarte and my bank account is still crying a bit... haha I will update you on all of these products very soon here on the blog of on my Instagram so stay tuned for that!

What's your favourite product from Tarte? Which product would you like to try from them? x

3 Brow Products Worth The Try

Before I start reviewing or explaining anything in this post I quickly have to mention that this post is not sponsored by Essence in any way! I just really love their brow products and I happen to have all of them because they're just so good!

So yeah, I just thought I'd let you know about that but now we can get on to the actual topic of the post, which, as seen by the title, is about the three brow products that I think are worth giving a try.

Essence is one of the least expensive highstreet brands out there but the quality is amazing. You get such great value for your money and that's also why I got really excited when I noticed all of my favourite brow products are from Essence!

The first product I want to talk to you about is the Eyebrow Gel in the shade 01 'Brown'. It's a really creamy eyebrow gel and you don't have to use much at all. I like to use this with my Essence Eyebrow Brush - I just lightly dip it in the pot a few times and then go ahead and fill in my brows. I normally use this eyebrow gel when I want to go for a bolder look, especially when I wear lots of eye makeup.

Next up there's the Eyebrow Designer in the shade 05 'Soft Blonde'. All the shades of these three products almost look the same - on the packaging and when applied - but they all have different names, which is a bit confusing when you want to pick up an eyebrow pencil and your matching shade is 'Blonde' when you're a brunette, ha!
Nevermind, let's get back to the Eyebrow Designer now! It's an eyebrow pencil, which looks lovely when it's applied and the shade is also great for me when I don't want to go too overboard with my eyebrows. But when I first got this I really had to warm it up to make it softer before there was any colour payoff. Since then it works very well and it's very soft too!

The last eyebrow product I think is worth trying is my absolute favourite out of these three. It's the Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara in the shade 03 'Soft Browny Brows'. I don't know how many times I've already mentioned this on my blog but I just freaking love this product! It has a really small applicator brush that reminds me a lot - together with the rest of the packaging as well - of the older version of the Benefit Gimme Brow!
This I use on a daily basis and it's just so easy to apply and looks really natural as well! I only need to brush this through my brows two to three times and, most of the time, they look extremely good - when I'm not having a 'bad brow' day...

So there they are - the three (Essence) brow products I think are definitely worth giving a try! I really want to try some brow products from other brands, like the NYX Micro Brow Pencil or the Archery Brow Pencil from Soap & Glory! I would love to hear your recommendations as well!

What are your go-to brow products at the moment? x

Skin Chemists Rose Quartz Month

It's finally Friday - yay! And I've been listening to Harry Styles' album all week long! I just can't believe how genuine and talented he is! Really loving his new music! ๐Ÿ’—

As you may have already seen by the title of today's post I want to talk to you about this month's theme over at Skin Chemists, which is 'Rose Quartz'. Last month it was the 'Advanced Snail', which sounds a bit weird to me having the word 'snail' on your skincare products but I'm sure they were great products!

Not only does the packaging of the Rose Quartz range look absolutely stunning but the products inside are also great! ๐ŸŒน

The first product I have here for you is the Lip Plump*, which retails for €69.90 on their website and is said to be a 'needle-free lip plump' that "... hydrates the lips, whilst actively boosting them for a fuller pout, leaving them soft and slightly glossy." - I can only agree with that description.
You just need to apply it like a gloss and you immediately see a difference - the lips look soft and glossy and they feel a bit tingly due to the contained peppermint oil!
I was a bit sceptical when I saw this Lip Plump and thought this would never work on my lips, but it actually does work and it looks amazing! Really love this product!

Next up I have the Age Defence Youth Facial Oil*, which I already talked about here on my blog a few months ago in this post. I don't necessarily want to go into that much detail about this product as I have a whole post about it but all I got to say about this is that it makes your skin look amazing!

The last Rose Quartz product I have here is the Radiance Enhancing Eye Serum*, which retails for €79.90 - quite an amount of money for an eye serum isn't it?! But after having tried this for a couple of weeks now I must admit that it would have been worth every penny if I had purchased it myself! The serum itself is actually pink and very liquidy so you've got to be careful with the application. But once you've applied this to your eye area, you will instantly look more awake and glowy!

And that's about it for my part of talking about this month's theme at Skin Chemists - 'Rose Quartz'! I really hope you've enjoyed today's post and might actually place a cheeky little order over on their website...

I also have a discount code for you, which gives you 10% off your products from Skin Chemists with the code MELANIE1 ๐Ÿ˜Š

How To Deal With Stress On The Go

I really hope you're all doing well today! This post is going to be a chatty one, so make sure to sit down and relax while reading it.

After a good five months of constant worry, stress and anxiety all of my A-level exams are officially over and I just got my results last week. I did it. I actually passed the exams and finished school. That's the most rewarding thing out of it all - I'm done now and I did alright. My overall grade is a 2,6 which is okay but of course, I wanted to do better.

I still remember the last couple of days before my first exam back in March. I was more than scared, to say the least, but my therapist had given me some good advice on how to cope with that kind of anxiety before an exam. And everything eventually paid off in the end, with me taking every exam like a pro and with only occasional panic attacks.

However, I started to feel down and depressed a lot more often towards the end of April and I couldn't make out why. I simply couldn't and that irritated me to a point where the panic attacks and the daily anxiety came back.

For a good five years, I've been taking various medications. One pill every morning to get that flow of Serotonin up and going, to 'balance the mood' you could say.
However, thanks to my mum, who's always looking for another way to help me with my anxiety and panic attacks, I found out about the Bach Rescue Sprays and Pastilles. I have been taking the sprays with me everywhere and I do use them daily. The Pastilles are useful as well but for me, they just taste good and somehow don't have the effect I need when taking them.

I have been using the Rescue Night Spray every night before going to bed ever since I got the first bottle about two years ago. It basically knocks me out half an hour after taking it and makes it possible for me to sleep well throughout the night. It could be my mind telling me this stuff works wonders but to me, this spray is exactly what I need!

The Original Rescue Spray, the 'normal' one, is always with me in my handbag when I'm out and about. It has a way lighter effect than the night version but it's still very calming and somewhat comforting to me. I feel a lot better and also safer when I have the spray with me because you never know what kind of circumstances you're going to be in when you go out shopping or go to the cinema with your friends, you know?

For the 'worst cases' I do have another medication that my doctor prescribed me a few years ago. Sedaselect is a lot stronger than the Bach Rescue Sprays, I tell you! Whenever the anxiety or the panic attack I'm having gets too bad I take ten drops of it on a sugar cube and let it dissolve on my tongue. It never takes longer than five minutes until I feel the drops kicking in and calming me down.

At the moment I need the Sedaselect drops a lot more often but I hope that changes again soon...! And in case I don't always have them or one of the sprays with me I do one or two things of these:

  • Take deep and slow breaths (eyes closed)
  • Drink water or tea
  • Meditate (if possible)
  • Write down how I feel
  • Take a short walk (fresh air)
  • "It will get better very soon"

I found this to be the best way to calm down a little when I don't have any medications around.

Oh dear, this has become such a long post, ha! I'm sorry for rambling so much but I just felt like putting lots of detail into this post. I hope you like it anyway! :)

Let me know about your best ways to deal with stress and anxiety! x

Isabelle Lancray Vitamina Cleansing Foam

The past two days have been so stressful in terms of keeping all of my blogging stuff updated, I tell you! I was on a short weekend getaway with my boyfriend and I knew I wouldn't have any WIFI there so I planned and scheduled ahead and wrote down two blog posts for the weekend and scheduled everything on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.
However, Blogger somehow didn't save any of my changes and none of the two posts I scheduled went live, which sucks because I put so much effort into them! But yeah, that's the reason why there weren't any new posts on my blog the past two days...

Today I have a new one for you and I really hope it will be published this time!
I have been trying and testing the Isabelle Lancray Vitamina Cleansing Foam* for quite some time now and I thought it's about time I give you a little review on this!

I already talked about two lovely products from Isabelle Lancray in my Skincare Favourites #2 post a few months ago and I still absolutely love them! When I found out they also have a cleansing foam in their collection, I had to try it!

I use three to four pumps of this foam every evening after taking my makeup off with a makeup remover wipe and before using a toner. Before using this, I always wet my face and my hands to make sure it foams really well and takes off all the leftover makeup from my face.

After putting the foam on my face, I rinse it with lukewarm water and carefully pat it dry with a towel. My skin is smooth afterwards but it also feels very tight which I had to get used to before actually enjoying this product!

I already noticed a difference in my complexion after having used this only a few times which makes this product even better! In combination with the Vitamina Vitamined Cocktail Cream, my skin not only feels but also looks so very soft and smooth and also healthy!

This product is one of the few skincare products I have been using almost non-stop for the past few months and which is still going strong! Absolutely adore this!

Have you tried anything from Isabelle Lancray before? x

How to Become the Ultimate Beauty Game Player - Guest Post by Sophia Smith

Beauty has always had rules, and it will always have them, but one question inevitably arises – is it absolutely essential to obey those rules no matter what? Well, the truth is that beauty is a game where everything is allowed, so stay with us if you want to know how to become the ultimate beauty game player.

Just keep reading and learn about five ultimate beauty secrets you simply need to know about, especially if you’re in your late 20s or early 30s!

Hydrate inside and out
If your skin often feels dry and itchy, it’s highly likely that you actually aren’t drinking enough water. The best way to hydrate regularly is to always keep a water bottle next to you so that you can drink it up anytime you see it.
Hydrating on the outside is also very important, so make sure to use proper creams and lotions from head to toe. These products will help your skin stay plump, dewy, and healthy, which is exactly what you need!

Make a 'new decade' resolution
Diane von Furstenberg, one of the most famous fashion icons, shares her secret to becoming the ultimate beauty game player. This lady claims that New Year’s resolutions are no longer a thing and that you should make a ‘new decade’ ones for the upcoming ten years.
This is exactly what you should do if you’re up for long-term success. If you carry your bad habits after you turn 30, it’ll be much harder to quit them, so make a decision to cut them down and pick up the good ones instead!

Slather on sunscreen no matter what
Sunscreen is an absolute must, so make sure to use it throughout the whole year, and not only during summer. That’s of the utmost importance simply because the sun’s rays can cause irreversible damage to your skin, speeding up the process of aging and causing depigmentation and sun spots.
Be sure that your sunscreen protects against both UVA and UVB radiation – that’s the only way to stay safe in the sun!

Highlight your favourite features
The key to effortless yet really effective look lies in highlighting your favorite features, even when you don’t feel like putting makeup on. Just a few coats of black mascara can make a difference, as well as a touch of peachy blush and a coat of lip gloss.
If you’re all about contouring your cheekbones, feel free to do that. Everything’s fine as long as it makes you happy. Besides that, skipping some unnecessary steps in your makeup routine will save you some time, too!

Get monthly facial treatments
When it comes to skin care, it’s essential that you start as soon as possible – your early 20s are probably the best time. Many people simply can’t realize that it’s always better to prevent aging, instead of waiting to correct particular issues. That’s why you should get professional facial treatments on a monthly basis – doing something great for your skin is always a good idea, so be sure you do it right.
On the other hand, if you don’t have time for that, you can still offer your skin the most amazing care ever. You can be your own beautician thanks to products such as skin elixir serum enriched with Hoya lacunosa – an exotic crystalline wax plant extract that reflects light and conditions the skin. It’s also vegan, paraben-free and oil-free, which makes it even more beneficial for your skin. Apart from this magical product, there are all kinds of different masks that can help you target premature aging, so give them a try ASAP!

Becoming the ultimate beauty game player doesn’t have to be as tricky as you probably thought – all you should do is to learn about your skin and body by realizing what works and what doesn’t work for you. This process may take time, but trust us – it’s completely worth it. Once it’s done, you’ll be able to slow down the process of aging and take proper care of your skin, which should be one of your top priorities!
