A Few New Beauty Bits

When thinking about new post ideas, I thought I would share a few new beauty products with you every now and then - of course, they're just new in my collection because you guys know I'm always late to the bandwagon, ha!

Starting off with skincare this time, I got the Shiseido Waso Color Smart Day Moisturiser at work the other day and I can't wait to try it! It sounds very promising and Shiseido currently settles at the top of my favourite brands!
The next skincare product is a little bit less expensive and it's the Balea Teint Perfection Moisturiser + Primer. It can be used as a moisturiser or a primer on its own or underneath your makeup. Of course, I always use it as a primer and it feels so incredibly smooth and velvety, I love it!
The last new skincare item I have here is from Sensai and it's the Cellular Performance Total Lip Treatment - one of my colleagues swears by this every single day and I'm literally so excited to try this too!

Now on to the new makeup in this post! The first product is not necessarily brand new to me but it's new in my current collection; the Catrice Cosmetics HD Liquid Coverage Foundation! I used to use this every single day a few years ago and I loved it so much! But somehow the colour always oxidised on my skin and I stopped using it... With a colour brightener, though, this is my new favourite makeup! Staying with Catrice, I also purchased the Light Correcting Serum Primer because it's supposed to be amazing and I can't wait to try that myself and tell you guys about it!
Then there's again something from Shiseido and it's their Full Lash Volume Mascara! I got it together with the Day Moisturiser and already tried this one! It's a great mascara but it gets really dry throughout the day and even loses a bit of colour. I like it nevertheless!
And the last new makeup item is the p2 Eyebrow Styling Gel because I ran out of my beloved Essence one and they also discontinued my shade so I had to get another one. I really hope this is just as good!

And last but not least, I finally got myself a Brush Cleansing Spray, it's just the one from Balea and basically nothing special at all! haha

The Primer Battle: Smashbox vs. Alverde

When I started getting into makeup and beauty a bit more, I knew that there were such products as primers, setting powders etc. but I never really used them. For me, it was all about mascara, concealer and a brow gel and I was done. Now that I'm working in a beauty shop, I actually have to wear more makeup; I know I said that before, ha, sorry about that!

So I've been using primers regularly for the past few months and I really got into the topic of "the perfect base" and "that flawless airbrushed look" a lot more and I can so tell the difference between an amazing and a bad primer now!
That's why I came up with another "Battle of the Products", this time comparing the Smashbox Photo Finished Primer and the Alverde Hydro Primer!

Let's start with the Smashbox one here...
I got this one last summer and used it every now and then because I didn't really have a reason to, to be honest! The past few months, I've been using either this one or the Essence Get Picture Ready! Primer - those two are just my ultimate favourites!
The Photo Finish Primer has a very light texture and makes your skin feel like velvet once it's applied to the face, which I find to be the perfect base to apply makeup on, obviously! It also prevents my foundation and my concealer from creasing or sliding off my face throughout the day, which was my biggest problem when I started working!

Packaging-wise you can see why I chose these two to be compared here on the blog, because, let's be honest, they look very similar to each other! However, they're not only very different when it comes to the price - Alverde: €3.95, Smashbox: €17.99 - but also when it comes to the quality of the product itself!

I know, the Alverde Hydro Primer is supposed to moisturise the skin as well as prime it at the same time but the texture of this basically feels like water once you squeeze it from the tube and I don't like that at all! On the face, it feels very sticky, which is good considering it to be a primer and the makeup has to "stick" to it all day long, but it actually feels like glue on my skin? Does that make sense?
Throughout the day my makeup lasts quite well but I've noticed that there's a point where the primer seems to stop working and especially around my nose and underneath my eyes my makeup just completely slides off! It looks terrible and I was a bit shocked when I looked at myself in the mirror the day I wore this for the first time! I gave this a few more tries, thinking it was just my moisturiser or my foundation, but that wasn't the problem.

I hope the Alverde one is just not right for my skin type because I really wanted this to work as it might have been a less expensive alternative for the Photo Finish Primer, but for me, it's definitely not worth another shot...

You can already tell which of the primers won, ha! Maybe the Alverde Hydro Primer works better for other skin types or I just applied it wrong but I don't think so.
The Smashbox Photo Finish Primer is definitely worth the money and I will gladly repurchase it once I run out of it - it lasts very well, though!

Have you tried the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer before? x

Blogger Club Favourites

You guys may or may not know that I've been receiving a Blogger Club Box every now and then for the past year or so and I thought it was about time to break down all of the products I have received so far and create a favourites post with them!

The very first two products I want to mention are both from Artdeco and my absolute favourites! They're the Bronzing Magnum Powder, which I absolutely adore, and the Powder to Cream Brow Color, which I just ran out of and I'm incredibly sad! Both of them just beautiful products and I will definitely have to repurchase the Brow Color now and the Bronzing Powder once it ran out - that's going to take a bit longer, though, ha!

Next up, there's a lipstick that I just loved right from the start and it's the SLA Paris Natural Perfect Lipstick in the shade 04 Simple Nude! I already talked about this one here on the blog in a single post a while back but I just had to mention it once again!

Lastly, there are two skincare products that made their way into this favourites post - the High Droxy One Soft Cream, which I always have with me when I go visit my parents because it's so handy and perfect for my travel skincare bag, and then there's the Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream, which I'm about to run out of but I will definitely repurchase this one! It has a lovely texture and the effect it has had on my skin so far is just amazing! Let me know if you'd like a full review on this one soon!

So these are my top 5 Blogger Club favourites and I really just love all of them!

What do you think about these products? x

Skincare I'm Currently Testing

Usually, I try my best to stick to my skincare routine, no matter the season or time of year. But recently, I've been trying and testing some new and old skincare bits just to see how my skin reacts and if it makes any difference in the condition of my skin. It's behaving a bit weird lately and I can't find the reason for it so I hope it's going to change again with these new products!

First up, I've started using a few drops of pure peppermint oil in my moisturiser in the morning - it makes my skin look so radiant and healthy and it makes my skin feel super prepped for applying makeup afterwards! The one I'm using is the Grace & Stella Peppermint Oil 100& Pure & Natural and I not only love the effect it has in combination with my moisturiser but also the smell!

There are also two moisturisers that I've been testing and loving already! The Biotherm Skin Oxygen Cooling Gel feels amazing after a face mask and really cools the skin!
Then there's the Clinique Moisture Surge, which I've been using every single morning since I got it and I absolutely love it! I already mentioned this a couple of times on the blog and I just can't get enough of it!

Of course, I've been testing and using my The Ordinary acids as well but I've planned a post on both of them for next week so stay tuned for that! I have the Salicylic Acid 2% Solution, which I use in the morning and the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, which I use in the evening after my cleanser!

And last but not least I have two more Clinique products which I'm not 100% satisfied with yet. The Pep-Start Eye Cream has a lovely texture but I don't see an effect at all, which is a bit disappointing. It's the same with the Liquid Facial Soap but I'll make sure to give them a few more gos before actually stating an opinion on them!

Pink & Nude Toned Eyeshadows

Pinks and nudes are my go-to eyeshadow shades, that's really no secret anymore. So today I wanted to break down a few of my favourite quads, duos and palettes including these gorgeous shades!

Most of the products were already mentioned on the blog a couple of times so I won't go into that much detail with them.

As for single eyeshadows I have two; the Catrice Cosmetics Aqua Fresh Highlighting Eyeshadow, which is gorgeous although it has a really strange consistency, and the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow.

Dior, HypoAllergenic and Catrice also do and have some incredible small eyeshadow palettes with beautiful nude and pink shades in them! I actually have a few of them and I love them all!

The most beautiful palette I have at the moment, though is this one from IsaDora, which I received a few months ago and I totally adore it! I mean, just look at it! Isn't it pretty?

I rrally hope to discover some more beautiful palettes and quads this year, maybe even including some other shades...

Makeup Picks For Every Day

As part of my 'work uniform' I actually have to wear a full face of makeup every single day, including false lashes on some days. It can get a bit annoying at times but I really don't mind, ha!

Because of that, I have found myself some everyday staples, which I can rely on and they stay put all day long.

After what seems like ages I'm finally back to mentioning my beloved Catrice Cosmetics Liquid Camouflage Concealer! It lasts all day long without creasing or sliding off my face.

But before applying the concealer, I do apply a primer, of course! The one I have come to absolutely love is the p2 Pro Beauty Primer, which I mentioned here on the blof before! It has a loveltly texture and makes my makeup look (almsot) flawless!

I'm not a big fan of face powders in general but the Technic Soft Focus Loose Powder has convinced me that I need one in my makeup routine! I always apply just a tiny bit underneath my eyes and around my nose to set the concealer and it works wonders!

The Benefit Dandelion Twinkle Highlighter has become my new love in terms of highlighting powders, I tell you! It just looks gorgeous and I receive compliments on how great it looks almost daily!

For the brows, which are a pain to fill in at the moment, I love to use my new Diorshow Brow Styler - best thing ever! After that, I set them in place with the Trend It Up Brow Gel Filler Waterproof; that way they stay put the whole day!

And last but not least, mascara and lips! I've come to love the Sigma Monumental Lash Mascara* - it's just an incredible mascara and it makes my lashes look amazing! And for the lips, the new Pixi Beauty Liquid Lipsticks* are my current go-to! They don't last as long as I would like them to but they smell wonderful and feel very nice on the lips as well!

Quite a few staples but I love all of these products and I really enjoy using them every single day!

Things I've Learned Since Having A Cat

There has never been a creature that I loved more than my little baby. She's the most gorgeous, cuddly and overall friendly cat I've ever laid my eyes on!

When I was younger I really hated cats because my grandma had two and they always walked on me when I slept and scratched my arms etc. so I swore to myself that I would never in a million years get a cat!
And look at me now... Four years ago, I basically adopted our neighbour's cat, which my grandma cares for now and she's beyond happy with him. Of course I still absolutely love him but I love my kitty a lot more!

Her name is Malissa, she's 7 years old, turning 8 in February and she's a "normal" house cat. I got her back in October because I felt so incredibly lonely and it was quite spontaneous as well. One evening I talked to my parents on the phone while searching for people on the internet who want to hand off their cat and that's when I found her. I asked my mum about the idea first and she just said I should definitely do it!
So I did it.

And I'm absolutely smitten! I mean, have you ever seen a more beautiful cat in your life?

But now on to the things I've actually learned since having her all to myself!

She loves me unconditionally
I never thought that a small cat as she is can show so much love and appreciation, really... She always welcomes me when I come home and wants to cuddle all the time! And with all the time, I mean it. I can't even eat without having her on my lap, ha! I don't mind that at all and I just love her so so much and she shows her love to me every single day!

She likes travelling
Although it's a real pain in the butt to get her in her little travel bag whenever we're going somewhere, she loves travelling, whether by car or by train. I know she's relaxed in her little bag and she always looks and meows at me as if to say "Look, everything's so exciting!" - Oh man, I sound so weird but I hope there are any cat lovers out there who understand me! haha

She actually talks to me
Malissa was very shy when I first got her but with days passing by, she got more talkative and comfortable with her surroundings. Whenever I talk to her - and yes, I talk to her like I'd talk to my mum, for example - she actually answers. I know it sounds stupid but it's nice to have some kind of feedback when you talk, you know?

She always comforts me
I realised that when there are times when I feel sad or quite exhausted or stressed, she behaves differently, but not in a negative way. It's typical for her to follow me around like a shadow but whenever I feel bad, she wants me to carry or cuddle her. And that really does help a lot!

BH Cosmetics x Mrs Bella Eyeshadow Palette

I already mentioned this lovely palette in one of Blogmas posts last month because I got this from my lovely friend Vanessa!

You can stil get this palette in DM or online on the BH Cosmetics website - most of the time it's sold out, though, so I'm even happier that she could get hold of one for me!

The palette has ten gorgeous eyeshadow shades and two highlighting shades. I also tried my best at these swatches to show you how beautiful they are but the pictures don't do them any justice, ha!

My two favourite shades are Bella and 50/50; my favourite highlighter is Gold Digger - never thought I'd actually love a golden highlight so much!

All of the eyeshadows are very well pigmented and blend amazingly! With the darker shades, there's a bit of fallout but it's nothing a fluffy brush can't fix!
