Makeup Bag Re-Shuffle

Guys, going back to having a normal blogging schedule it's so much harder than I thought. I feel so bad for not posting regularly in the past few weeks, I really do, but I still hope that somehow I'm now able to get things working the way I want them to!

There has been quite a change in my everyday makeup bag and I really wanted to show you guys what has been inside and what I have been using for the past few weeks.

My go-to foundation is the Diorskin Forever - it's such an amazing makeup and it makes your skin look flawless! I like to apply this with a brush and really blend it out with a makeup sponge afterwards! The concealer I love using is still the Chanel Le Correcteur and I don't think that will change in the future, ha! It's a great concealer as it literally has the same tone as my skin and it makes all the blemishes, the redness and anything else invisible!

Bronzer and highlighter - wise I've fallen back in love with the Makeup Revolution Glow Palette. It's just so beautiful and I've been using this almost every single day for the past like two months or so! And, you probably won't believe it, but I've actually started using blush?! There's one from Dior that I absolutely love but at the moment, I prefer using this new one from Lottie London; it's not too vibrant but it gives you that natural and healthy glow!

For the brows, I have found a new Holy Grail product, which is the Yves Saint Laurent Couture Brow. It not only fills in the brows perfectly, it also holds them in place almost all day long. And that's basically everything I want a brow gel to do!

As for the eye makeup, I have come to love the Clarins Ombre Iridescente Single Eyeshadows. They're super easy to apply and to blend and they look great as an everyday makeup look as well! In combination with these, I like to use my NARS Eyeshadow Duo - they're again the perfect everyday shades and you know I love my light pink and nude shades, ha! The mascara I've been using is the Diorshow Blackout Mascara. This actually does everything - volume, length, separation and it doesn't smudge throughout the day either.

And last but by no means least, I actually have a favourite lip product at the moment, which is the Maybelline Super Stay 24 Colour Lipstick. The shade is absolutely stunning and it feels amazing on the lips as well! Not to mention that it really stays on the lips for such a long time, even after drinking and eating something!

That's it for my little makeup bag re-shuffle already! Lots of new and amazing products and I just love all of them so much, haha!

Which products have made their way into your makeup bag recently? x

Things That Keep Me Motivated

The other day, I had a little photoshoot with my little one - she didn't like it too much but in the end, we got one (!) fairly decent photo, ha!
And because I love her so much and couldn't think of any other photo idea for this post, I decided to use our portrait for today's post!

It's more of a lifestyle post today, about all the things that keep me motivated in general. First I thought about focusing on the things that keep me motivated to continue blogging, etc. but then I realised that I haven't done a life-related post in a while, which led me to write this one instead.

Being motivated and also happy at the same time has been a brand new feeling for me. Ever since leaving the bank and starting my traineeship at the perfumery, I just overall feel better and more relaxed as well. And because I love my job so much now, I'm motivated and happy almost every single day!
Sometimes, however, there are days where I just don't feel that positive vibe so I have to sit back and remind myself of everything good in my life to get back on track. This may sound like those "down days" are like the end of the world, which they aren't of course, but I think it's important to always keep the good things in your life on your mind; it's so much easier to, like I said, get back on track that way, in my opinion.

Things that keep me motivated...

They've been my biggest supporters in every past decision I've made and I seriously couldn't ask for anything better. They're the most important part of my life and living so far away from them does make me sad at times but seeing them after weeks and weeks apart really is the best thing!

I know, I know - "Is she seriously talking about her cat in this post?" Yes, she is, haha. This little creature just makes my life so much better and happier, I actually can't put it into words. Once I come back from work in the evening, she never leaves my side and I'm so incredibly thankful that I got the chance to bring her into my life.

Sounds weird but having a job that you love actually makes life so much better and easier. I always thought that going to work every day is something you can't avoid if you want to have a good life. But when it's so much fun and your colleagues are just amazing, going to work doesn't feel like going to work, you know what I mean? It's like leaving the house to see your friends and family and surround yourself with the things you love, which, in my case, are makeup, skincare and fragrances...

These are only three things but they've become such huge parts of my life that I can't imagine my life without even one of them anymore. And at the moment, life is pretty awesome.

Is there anything special that keeps you motivated? x

Brand Focus: Cocoa Locks

Definitely not my most fascinating photo for a blog post but in today's post, I wanted to focus more on this amazing product and tell you guys all about it!

About a month ago, the lovely team from Cocoa Locks asked me to become a brand ambassador for them and, of course, I said yes. I had a good look through their website and their products before doing so because I wanted to make sure that the product I'll be testing for you guys is actually something that interests me - as always! So I had a look, saw that it was all about hot chocolate and hair growth and I was up for it!

The shipping process is just incredibly fast as well. It took about three to four days I believe for the product to be shipped from the UK to Germany, which is amazing! When it arrived at my door, I began the program the next day and it did last about a month.

The hot chocolate is vegetarian, gluten-free and only has about 32 kcal per mug of which you only need to drink one per day. Most of the time, I drank mine for breakfast, instead of my usual cup of tea, I just mixed the hot water with two teaspoons of the hot chocolate.

To make your hair stronger, thicker, longer and whatnot, the hot chocolate has ridiculously many great ingredients to ensure the best results at the end of the program! I have made a list of all the ingredients down below so you can see what's inside:

Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, B12
Vitamin C
Vitamin E

As you can tell, there's a lot of good stuff in there, it still tastes amazing and there are actual results after only two weeks of drinking a mug every day! After about two weeks, my colleagues and my family asked if my hair had grown and that it looked so strong and healthy - they didn't know I had been drinking this hot chocolate for the past couple weeks! It really surprised me because I myself didn't see a lot, barely anything really, but when they told me that my hair looked so good, I did notice that it became a lot thicker and stronger.

I will definitely try more hot chocolate programs and maybe even the Hairshake they also offer! This is the first ever product of this kind that has really satisfied and surprised me - I'm just in love! And because the results are actually visible, four of my colleagues ordered a pack for themselves the other day as well! Kind of proud to be a successful ambassador already! haha

Have you heard of this brand before? x

New Fragrances Spring 2018

Working in retail actually has many benefits, especially when working in a perfumery. I know I've said this about a billion times now but I just can't wrap my head around the fact that I'm so lucky to be a trainee in the perfumery I'm currently working for!

One benefit is that you get to have a little look at the new and upcoming fragrances a little earlier than everyone else, which is super exciting! The moment they enter the shelves in the store is amazing - then you can sell your new favourite fragrance to potential customers and buyers!

Last month, we were invited by Coty to the Adlon Kempinski Hotel in Berlin for a New Release Event for Spring 2018. Not all of the fragrances mentioned in this post today are distributed by Coty but the ones you can see in the image above. Let's start with those three first, shall we?

Chloé - Nomade
I'm starting right off with my new favourite at the moment! This scent is just beautiful! It's quite fruity and floral but also woody and powdery at the same time. This Chloé scent is just so different to all the other signature Chloé fragrances you might have smelled before!

Top notes:

Heart notes:

Base notes:
White Musk

Jil Sander - Sunlight
With Susan Sarandon being the new face of this lovely fragrance, she represents the "charismatic and self-confident woman of timeless beauty and wisdom". This scent and the campaign behind it is just beautiful! I don't wear it myself very often so I gave it to my mum, just because I thought she'd like it a lot more and she actually does like it a lot!

Top notes:
Pink Pepper

Heart notes:
Orange Blossom
Solar Notes

Base notes:
White Cedar Extract

Boss - The Scent For Her E.d.T
Many customers, especially men looking for a present, always get back to Boss fragrances because they know they can't be wrong with one of those. The Scent For Her range started in 2016 with the E.d.P, now expanding with the E.d.T - this was announced as a "luminous, lighter and fresher version" of the original E.d.P.

Top notes:
Pink Pepper
Green Mandarin

Heart notes:
Orange Blossom

Base notes:

Some other fragrances that sadly didn't make their way into my picture but I still want to mention are the new Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Femme - this just smells incredible, definitely give this one a little sniff whenever you can! - the Kenzo World E.d.T, the brand new Sí Passione from Armani - beautiful scent!! - and last but by no means least the new Lancôme La Nuit Trésor à la Folie.

Make sure to give all of them a sniff next time you get the chance to - I promise you won't regret it!
What's your favourite fragrance at the moment? Let me know in the comments! x

Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara - Worth The Hype?

Happy Sunday my loves! Well, it's been a while again, hasn't it? But I'm currently working on several different blog posts for the upcoming weeks so it'll hopefully work out just fine now!

In today's post, I'll be reviewing the new Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara, which I had already mentioned in my last New In: Beauty post a while ago. Let's start with some general details on this one, shall we?

The packaging.
In my opinion, it's very pretty and the chubby matte-pink tube looks beautiful on any dressing table and in any makeup collection. It has a very simple yet effective design as well and I think, although it's so simple, it's such an eyecatcher!

The brush.
It's super thick and fluffy and personally, I love these types of mascara brushes! It grabs the lashes perfectly and makes the application super easy.

The formula.
Now, this is the only part of this mascara that makes me hate it. I find it very dry and crumbly and it basically does nothing to my lashes. The black colour is super rich and dark but my lashes don't look voluminous, full or anything else; they just look flat and straight.

Honestly, I had very high hopes for this mascara and I was super excited when I finally got my hands on it because it was sold out everywhere, but now that I've tried it for a couple of weeks I'm quite disappointed... The first time I tried this mascara and went to work afterwards, I looked like a panda a few hours later because it smudged really bad.

You can tell I'm not super keen on this one, sadly. However, my cousin tried this as well and absolutely loves it! Also, her lashes look great whenever she's wearing it! Maybe it's just my lashes that don't like these types of mascara.

Have you tried this mascara yet? If so, how do you like it? x

February Favourites

This two-week blogging break was not planned at all. However, I haven't felt that motivated recently anyway and I think this unintentional social media detox really did me good. I feel more motivated than ever and I'm really excited to get back to blogging!

Just to get back into the swing of things, I thought I'd start with a good old monthly favourites post. Let's start with two skincare bits that I've been loving throughout the month of February! The first one being the Yves Saint Laurent Top Secrets Illuminating Cleanser Water-In-Foam - this is by far the best cleanser I've used so far! It takes off the leftover makeup and dirt so well, without leaving your skin feeling tight and dry. This prepares your skin for the serums and creams afterwards perfectly and there has been a huge difference in the state of my skin lately, but I will update you on my current skincare routine soon anyway!
The next skincare bit is a hand cream from Rituals and it's the Ritual of Sakura Nourishing Hand Balm. The scent? Heaven. The texture? Incredible. This is literally the hand cream of your dreams and the packaging is so pretty as well!

In January, I went for my first ever professional manicure and also got my nails done at the same time. However, I wasn't happy with my nails after the gel had come off because they looked SO bad! Because of that, I decided to purchase the Micro Cell Nail Repair Green, hoping that it would improve the state of my nails. And it actually worked! My nails recovered very quickly from the gel manicure and look so much better and healthier now. So glad this nail polish works!

As for makeup bits this month, I've completely fallen in love with the new Dior Forever Undercover Foundation! I got the lightest shade 010 and still have to use lightening drops with it but I don't mind at all. It has such a nice texture and feels and also looks great on the skin! Let me know if you guys would like to read a full review with pictures here on the blog!
Together with the foundation, I love to use the Le Correcteuer de Chanel also in the shade 010. This concealer is just the best one ever! The shade matches my skintone so perfectly well that it doesn't even look like I'm wearing any makeup!
The last makeup product is the L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara. Just love how lengthening and separating this is and my lashes almost look like I've applied very natural falsies! Love that look!

And last but by no means least, there's a new fragrance that I've absolutely been loving! It's the brand new Boss The Scent For Her E.d.T. That fragrance though... It's simply beautiful! You should definitely give it a sniff!

What are some of your favourites from this month? x

Valentine's Day Makeup Picks

As Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I don't have any romantic plans at all, I thought I'd share my makeup picks with you anyway. I'm planning to go full glam at work tomorrow and after work as well because we have a training with Artdeco that evening - super exciting!

So for my base products I'm using the Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Foundation in 100, which suits me just perfect, and my absolute favoute concealer at the moment, the Le Correcteur de Chanel in the shade 010!

My bronzer and highlighter for this look are the Catrice Cosmetics High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder and the Misslyn Barbados Babe Bronzing Powder. I absolutely adore both of these and I definitely need to use them more often!

For the brows the Diorshow Browstyler is my current go-to and of course I wanted to include it in this look as well! Just to fill in my eyebrows without making them look too "unnatural".

My eye makeup consists of the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette and the Catrice Cosmetics Stylo Eyeshadow Pen in this lovely copper shade! I think for Valentine's Day, deeper and more copper/red shades are just perfect!
To finish off the eyes, I'm using the Le Volume de Chanel Mascara.

The small extras to this look are red nails for which I'm using a simple bringht red nail polish from Essence, a lovely fragrance - Black Opium E.d.T. for me - and a bright red lip, which I'm creating with the YSL Lip Tatouage Couture in number 1!

I'm actually really enjoying this look and maybe I will even post a little Instagram with this... Let's wait and see!

What are your plans for Valentine's Day this year? x

8 Pixi Beauty Lip Products To Fall In Love With

Pixi Beauty has quickly become not only a skincare but also a makeup brand that quite many people just love, me included.

A couple months ago, I very kindly received two packages with their liquid lipsticks and their normal lipsticks. Latter come in three gorgeous shades, the liquid ones in five.

Because these shades are right up my street, I thought I'd include all of them in this post so you guys may find the perfect one for you!

The liquid lipsticks, like I said, come in five different nude shades. They have this petal formed applicator, which makes it incredibly easy to apply the product!
When I first opened these I instantnly noticed the gorgeous scent - it kind of reminds me of Christmas; a mixture of vanilla and cinnamon. The scent really makes up for the not so satisfying longevity as well!

As for the lipsticks, they need a bit of a warm up before using them for the very first time. After that though they apply amazingly well and look beautiful on the lips!
Again, the only thing that bothers me a bit is that they don't last that long... But honestly, I don't mind, I got used to reapplying either the lipstick or the liquid lipstick throughout the day.

I definitely want to try more of their makeup products; they just seem so well priced with a great quality!

Have you tried any of these before? x

The 24h Base Routine

Getting ready in the morning can be quite a daunting process, for me at least, ha! So I like my makeup routine to be as quick and easy as possible yet I want it to stay put on my face all day long, especially at work.

Because of that, I have put together a little routine that makes my base look almost flawless all day long, even without any touch ups!

Let's start with primer then! I love to use a few different ones every now and then but when I really want my makeup to stay in place I use the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. It creates the perfect base to apply makeup on and also makes it last so much longer!
Foundation-wise I like to use the Catrice Cosmetics HD Liquid Foundation. I just find it to work best together with the primer, which just adds to its longevity and makes my makeup look good all day long. For applying the foundation I absolutely love using the Sigma 3DHD Max Kabuki Brush! It really does make your foundation flawless!

After primer and foundation, it's time for some concealer! You guys know I have quite a few favourite ones but when I want my base to look its best, I normally reach for my beloved MAC Pro Longwear Concealer. As the name already says, it's very long wearing and it doesn't crease on my face either!

Sometimes, after having applied my concealer, I like to use a loose powder to set my concealer in place. For that, I like to use the Technic Soft Focus Transparent Loose Powder! It's great for setting your concealer and it gives your skin that extra soft and flawless look!

Last but by no means least, I reach for the MAC Fix+ to set my makeup and hydrate it once more so the powder doesn't dry out my skin too much.

I'm quite glad that I found this routine to work really well for my skin because it means that I don't have to do as many touch ups throughout the day!

Do you have any tips for "the perfect base?" x

3 Hacks For Finding The Right Foundation - Guest Post

Finding the right foundation for your skin type can be one of the most challenging and frustrating things about makeup. Not only do you have to find a makeup base to match your skin tone, but you also have to find a formula that suits your skin condition. Moreover, with so many options available, it’s almost impossible to know where to start. Finding the perfect match can give your skin a flawless look, makes you look better in pictures, and even helps to make your makeup last longer. This year, make a beauty resolution to find a foundation that makes you look your best. Here are a few hacks for finding the best foundation for your skin.

Swatch several shades at the same time

To find the right foundation for your skin, try swatching at least 3 shades of foundation on your face at the same time. To do this, simply swatch them on your jawline. The shade that seems to disappear into your skin is your perfect match. But don’t stop there. Wipe off the swatches, then smooth the best match all over your face and neck. Head outside and check your foundation in natural lighting. See if it truly matches your complexion and observe if the formula cakes or pills on your skin. If your makeup base looks as good as it does inside the department store or drugstore, then you’ve found yourself a winner.

Pick a formula for your skin type

Matching your foundation to your skin tone is not enough—you need to pick a formula that works for your skin type too. If you have oily skin, a formula with a matte finish or a powder foundation may be best for your skin as it can eliminate shine and makes you look fresh. Dry or combination skin will benefit from a moisturizing foundation as it can make skin look radiant and younger.

Choose a foundation that fits your lifestyle

The last thing that you have to consider when choosing a foundation is your lifestyle. Do you usually spend a lot of time doing your makeup and prefer a more polished look a la Kim Kardashian? Then a professional grade liquid foundation may be your best bet. If you’re low maintenance and often go for a natural look, a tinted moisturizer, BB cream, or CC cream may be the perfect base for you. If you’re always on the go and don’t mind doing multiple touch-ups, a cushion compact can help you achieve that glowing and flawless look throughout the day.

Finding the perfect makeup base can take some time, so try a few brands from department stores, drugstores, and you may also want to give organic foundation a whirl to see what’s best for your skin. Try these hacks for finding the right foundation and look your best in 2018.

Old Favourites I've Started Using Again

Due to my makeup collection slowly but steadily growing in size and the variety of products, I had been almost neglecting some old favourites of mine for the past couple of months. So the other day, I had a little rummage through all of my makeup collection and I actually found quite a few products that I really want to use more often again!

First things first: eyeshadow palettes. I don't own that many palettes with more than four or fives shades in total, but I do own two Zoeva ones and I almost forgot how much I love them! The Rose Golden Palette has been my favourite for such a long time and it definitely has to be used so much more!
Staying in the category of eye makeup, I also fell back in love with the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. I have no idea how on earth I forgot about this but I'm so glad I got back into it again!

MAC Lipsticks have been the first "high end" makeup products I treated myself to when I started blogging and becoming more and more interested in beauty in general. Whirl is such a gorgeous everyday shade I popped this straight into my bag for work so I can use it every single day!

Changing the order of how I usually mention products in a blog post, I now want to talk about base products. You know I normally talk about those first but I felt like switching things up a bit today, ha! My beloved L'Oreal True Match Foundation has also made its way back into my daily makeup routine, which I'm quite excited about, to be honest. Together with the Catrice Cosmetics Liquid Camouflage Concealer, it's been doing an amazing job on keeping my face covered and looking (almost) flawless throughout the day!

And last but definitely not least, I've been getting back into using the Makeup Revolution Glow Palette a lot more lately and I definitely do not regret it! It's such a gorgeous face duo that not only looks beautiful, the quality of the product is amazing as well!

As you can tell, I'm very content with switching up a few parts of my daily makeup routine by using some old favourites again! I will for sure do this more often this year just so all of the products I own are being used!

Have you started to use some old favourites again recently? x

New In: Beauty

With the first month of January being over already, the first week of February usually means there's no school for anyone. I also got my certificate for my first two months in vocational school, which I have to go to because of my traineeship. And I'm still quite proud of myself that I got straight A's in almost every single subject even after such a short time!

So... I treated myself to a few new beauty bits then, of course. The first two products I want to talk about are from Chanel and I certainly did not buy them myself! I got them at work and I'm in love already! I have the Le Correcteur De Chanel in the shade 10 Beige and the Le Volume De Chanel Mascara, which I have yet to try but all of my colleagues swear by this mascara so I'm sure I'll love it just as much!
The concealer is incredible though! It has such a creamy texture and blends incredibly well! The shade is also one of the best matches I've ever had in a concealer, which did surprise me because I thought my Tarte Shape Tape would have been the best yet but I assume I was wrong!

And now on to the few highstreet items I treated myself to a few days ago. The first thing that made its way into my basket was the new and very much raved about Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara! It's supposed to be one of their best mascaras yet and I can't wait to try this one as well! If you guys want to read a full review on this, let me know!

I then also got two lip products from Maybelline: the Color Drama by Color Show in the shade 605, which swatched amazingly beautiful in the shop so I hope it will look and feel just as good on the lips! And I also had to finally pick up one of the Maybelline Super Stay 24 Color Liquid Lipsticks in the shade 640 Nude Pink. So many people have been talking about these for ages so I decided it was about time for me to get one too!

That day I seemed to only be focused on the Maybelline counter, ha! Because I also got the Dream Sun Bronzing Powder in 01 Light Bronze! Really excited to try this one!

And last but by no means least, I got the Catrice Cosmetics High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder in 010 Light Infusion. This is such a beautiful highlighter and of course, I already used it - absolutely in love with it!

That was it for my little new in beauty haul! Maybe you guys have tried any of these products before and can tell me how they've worked out for you!

Have you treated yourself to anything new recently? x

January Favourites

It's time again - the first favourites post of 2018! I can't believe the first month of this year is already over!

This month I have discovered quite a few new favourites and I can't wait to feature them on the blog more often!

The first product I want to talk about is the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum. I have been using this on the red areas on my face for the past few weeks and it's made such a noticable difference! You only need to use the tiniest amount and your skin will really thank you for it!

The rest of my favourites this month only consists of makeup items - what a surprise!

Of course, my beloved Dandelion Twinkle from Benefit has to be included in this post! I've been adoring this product so much and seriously can't picture my makeup without it anymore!

For my lashes, I've been using and loving the Catrice Cosmetics Glam & Doll Curl & Volume Mascara! Because I had my very first lash lift a couple of weeks ago I tried to find a mascara in my collection that's easy to take off in the evening but still coat my lashes properly and this is definitely the one!

There are also two single eyeshadows that are just gorgeous! They're from Rival de Loop, which is a brand only available at Rossmann. Both of them are matte and I've been using them almost daily for the past month or so.

Just like with the Dandelion Twinkle, I also had to include the incredible Diorshow Brow Styler. I've never been so in love with a brow product... It's so easy to use and the shade is just perfect for my hair colour! Highly recommend this one!

Another Estée Lauder product which made its way into this month's favourites post: the Pure Color Love Lipstick. It's such a beautiful everyday colour that looks absolutely stunning on the lips! Just like the Rouge Dior Liquid, which I already mentioned in yesterday's Birthday Makeup Look! Totally in love with these two!

And last but not least I have a nail polish favourite this month - the Misslyn Nail Polish in 275. It's the perfect dark mauve colour and I just love it, ha!

What have you been loving this month? x

Birthday Makeup Look

It's my 20th birthday today and of course I'm with my parents again! And because we're going out for dinner this evening, I thought I'd share my birthday makeup look with you guys on the blog today!

For my base I'm still using the Balea Teint Perfection Primer - absolutely love this product! It creates the perfect canvas to apply makeup on! On top of that I like to use my new Catrice Cosmetics Light Correcting Serum Primer just to add that little bit of extra dewiness to my skin.

For my foundation, I currently like to use the IsaDora Natural Matt Oil-Free Foundation, blending that in with my beloved makeup sponge from Basic Beauty Tools! To finish off the base, I apply the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer underneath my eyes and everywhere else I need a bit more coverage!

Highlighter and bronzer are still my ever so loved Dandelion Twinkle from Benefit and the Artdeco Magnum Bronzing Powder - I realised that my face looks so flat without a bronzer that I actually include a bronzing powder in every single makeup look now, ha!
After that I like to use a setting spray before doing my brows and applying mascara; I just think it makes my makeup look the best, if I may say so myself. For that I'm using the p2 Pro Beauty Prep + Fix Spray, which is my favourite at the moment!

To fill in my brows I thought I'd go back to using the L'Oreal Paradise Brow Pomade and top that with the p2 Eyebrow Styling Gel - they actually discotinued my shade of the Essence Make Me Brow and I've never been more sad about a discontinued product to be honest!
For my lashes I currently love to use the Sigma Monumental Lash Mascara! Together with my lash lift, which I got like two weeks ago, this mascara makes my lashes look incredible! I'm so glad I got the lash lift done!

And last but by no means least, for the lips I'm using the Clinique Quickliner For Lips together with the Rouge Dior Liquid in 221 Chic Matte. Such a lovely combo!

That's it for my birthday makeup look this year! Let me know what you think about the products!

When is it your birthday? x

The Lavender Scent For Those Who Don't Like Lavender

Perfumes have quickly become one of my favourite things in the world, especially the sweet and floral ones I like to have in my collection.
However, I don't like the scent of lavender at all! And yet I love this perfume from Guerlain - Mon Guerlain.

It came out last year and together with their La Petite Robe Noire fragrances, it's one of my favourites at the moment.

Again, I had to use Fragrantica to properly describe the scent of this, just to make sure I have all the right information here for you guys!

Top notes:

Heart notes:
Jasmine Sambac

Base notes:
Australian Sandalwood

This fragrance, as Thierry Wasser, the perfumer of Guerlain says, was inspired by "the choices, emotions and dreams that embody modern femininity".

I seriously can't wait to see if there's anything new from Guerlain this year and I hope to be able to show all the new products to you guys as well!

Do you like the scent of lavender? x

Brand Focus: Pixi Beauty

Pixi Beauty is a beauty and skincare brand that probably most of you guys know by now - well, I hope you do because if not you're really missing out on something!

I bought their all too famous Glow Tonic a while back and immediately fell in love with it! Not only has it helped clear up my skin, it makes it look healthier and more radiant as well.
As you can tell, I'm smitten with their skincare products, but their makeup - or better, their lip products - has convinced me that they can do both.

My favourite makeup items from them so far are the Liquid Lips. They just smell incredible and I love all the shades available! They don't last that long but I don't mind the small touch ups here and there throughout the day.
The only products that I'm not very keen so, though, are their Lip Balms. The packaging feels really cheap and they feel weird on the lips as well, which I just don't like at all.

Overall, I just love Pixi and I'm more than happy to be part of their PR list! Like, I still can't even put this into words... That's why I dedicated a whole post to them because they're such an amazing and lovely brand, which I can't wait to try more from!

I might place a sneaky little order very soon and order some more makeup bits. Let me know your recommendations if you have any!

The Ordinary Acids You Need To Try

Skincare is definitely one of the most crucial things to me personally and I also really like to blog about it so I can show you guys which products I'm using and also tell you why I use them and if I like them or not.

Doing a whole post about these two products obviously means that I enjoy having them in my morning and evening skincare routine very much. And the two products I'm talking about are both from The Ordinary, which is an incredible skincare and makeup brand in my opinion and they literally have something for every skin concern.

In the morning, I normally use the Salicylic Acid 2% Solution, which is said to "help exfoliate the inside walls of pores to fight the appearance of blemishes" - and heck yes, it does just that! I'm always a bit sceptical when it comes to such promising effects the products are supposed to have on your skin, so for €5.30 for the 30ml bottle I wasn't expecting that much, to be honest. My skin has visibly cleared up since I added this product (and the other one, which I'm about to mention) to my daily skincare routine.

The Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, which I use in the evening, is said to "reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion", which, to me, sounded very promising as well. Especially because it's only €5.90 for 30ml, so you get amazing value for little money, which is just an extra bonus to me, ha!
Together with the 2% Solution, my skin has found its saviours. I rarely have any blemishes on my face anymore and I'm so happy about it! I will definitely try some more The Ordinary products; skincare as well as makeup. Let me know if you have any recommendations!

How I Fell In Love With Dior

My love for makeup and beauty products, in general, has come to a point where it's in need of an upgrade. Highstreet makeup is still the majority I have and love, but I would also love to set foot into other territories regarding the world of makeup products.

There has been such an incredible amount of products for me to try out already in the past two months because of job-related changes as you guys may have read here on the blog and thus I slowly fell in love with a new brand.

And it's no other brand than Dior; I not only adore their makeup but also their perfumes and their skincare products.

Dior as a brand itself, to me, stands for elegance, new innovations and pure beauty. In all honesty, I can't give you a specific reason as to why I fell in love with the brand in the first place because it just happened!
The product that introduced me to this brand though was the Dior Addict Lipstick, which is the most perfect lip balm with just the slightest tint of colour. It's easy to put on, e.g. before leaving the house for work, and you can also throw it in your handbag for touch-ups throughout the day. It's become my new go-to lip product - for work and for my everyday makeup!

The product I'm loving the most, however, is the Diorshow Brow Styler. Although they are only very few shades to choose from, I managed to find the perfect match for my hair colour. With the super thin applicator on the one and the very handy little brush on the other side of the Styler, this quickly has become just as much of a makeup staple for me as the only just mentioned Lip Addict!

In fact, I'm really looking forward to what's to come from Dior in the upcoming seasons and I can't wait to update you guys on that as well if you'd like.

What do you think about Dior? Have you tried anything from them before? x

A Few New Beauty Bits

When thinking about new post ideas, I thought I would share a few new beauty products with you every now and then - of course, they're just new in my collection because you guys know I'm always late to the bandwagon, ha!

Starting off with skincare this time, I got the Shiseido Waso Color Smart Day Moisturiser at work the other day and I can't wait to try it! It sounds very promising and Shiseido currently settles at the top of my favourite brands!
The next skincare product is a little bit less expensive and it's the Balea Teint Perfection Moisturiser + Primer. It can be used as a moisturiser or a primer on its own or underneath your makeup. Of course, I always use it as a primer and it feels so incredibly smooth and velvety, I love it!
The last new skincare item I have here is from Sensai and it's the Cellular Performance Total Lip Treatment - one of my colleagues swears by this every single day and I'm literally so excited to try this too!

Now on to the new makeup in this post! The first product is not necessarily brand new to me but it's new in my current collection; the Catrice Cosmetics HD Liquid Coverage Foundation! I used to use this every single day a few years ago and I loved it so much! But somehow the colour always oxidised on my skin and I stopped using it... With a colour brightener, though, this is my new favourite makeup! Staying with Catrice, I also purchased the Light Correcting Serum Primer because it's supposed to be amazing and I can't wait to try that myself and tell you guys about it!
Then there's again something from Shiseido and it's their Full Lash Volume Mascara! I got it together with the Day Moisturiser and already tried this one! It's a great mascara but it gets really dry throughout the day and even loses a bit of colour. I like it nevertheless!
And the last new makeup item is the p2 Eyebrow Styling Gel because I ran out of my beloved Essence one and they also discontinued my shade so I had to get another one. I really hope this is just as good!

And last but not least, I finally got myself a Brush Cleansing Spray, it's just the one from Balea and basically nothing special at all! haha

The Primer Battle: Smashbox vs. Alverde

When I started getting into makeup and beauty a bit more, I knew that there were such products as primers, setting powders etc. but I never really used them. For me, it was all about mascara, concealer and a brow gel and I was done. Now that I'm working in a beauty shop, I actually have to wear more makeup; I know I said that before, ha, sorry about that!

So I've been using primers regularly for the past few months and I really got into the topic of "the perfect base" and "that flawless airbrushed look" a lot more and I can so tell the difference between an amazing and a bad primer now!
That's why I came up with another "Battle of the Products", this time comparing the Smashbox Photo Finished Primer and the Alverde Hydro Primer!

Let's start with the Smashbox one here...
I got this one last summer and used it every now and then because I didn't really have a reason to, to be honest! The past few months, I've been using either this one or the Essence Get Picture Ready! Primer - those two are just my ultimate favourites!
The Photo Finish Primer has a very light texture and makes your skin feel like velvet once it's applied to the face, which I find to be the perfect base to apply makeup on, obviously! It also prevents my foundation and my concealer from creasing or sliding off my face throughout the day, which was my biggest problem when I started working!

Packaging-wise you can see why I chose these two to be compared here on the blog, because, let's be honest, they look very similar to each other! However, they're not only very different when it comes to the price - Alverde: €3.95, Smashbox: €17.99 - but also when it comes to the quality of the product itself!

I know, the Alverde Hydro Primer is supposed to moisturise the skin as well as prime it at the same time but the texture of this basically feels like water once you squeeze it from the tube and I don't like that at all! On the face, it feels very sticky, which is good considering it to be a primer and the makeup has to "stick" to it all day long, but it actually feels like glue on my skin? Does that make sense?
Throughout the day my makeup lasts quite well but I've noticed that there's a point where the primer seems to stop working and especially around my nose and underneath my eyes my makeup just completely slides off! It looks terrible and I was a bit shocked when I looked at myself in the mirror the day I wore this for the first time! I gave this a few more tries, thinking it was just my moisturiser or my foundation, but that wasn't the problem.

I hope the Alverde one is just not right for my skin type because I really wanted this to work as it might have been a less expensive alternative for the Photo Finish Primer, but for me, it's definitely not worth another shot...

You can already tell which of the primers won, ha! Maybe the Alverde Hydro Primer works better for other skin types or I just applied it wrong but I don't think so.
The Smashbox Photo Finish Primer is definitely worth the money and I will gladly repurchase it once I run out of it - it lasts very well, though!

Have you tried the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer before? x

Blogger Club Favourites

You guys may or may not know that I've been receiving a Blogger Club Box every now and then for the past year or so and I thought it was about time to break down all of the products I have received so far and create a favourites post with them!

The very first two products I want to mention are both from Artdeco and my absolute favourites! They're the Bronzing Magnum Powder, which I absolutely adore, and the Powder to Cream Brow Color, which I just ran out of and I'm incredibly sad! Both of them just beautiful products and I will definitely have to repurchase the Brow Color now and the Bronzing Powder once it ran out - that's going to take a bit longer, though, ha!

Next up, there's a lipstick that I just loved right from the start and it's the SLA Paris Natural Perfect Lipstick in the shade 04 Simple Nude! I already talked about this one here on the blog in a single post a while back but I just had to mention it once again!

Lastly, there are two skincare products that made their way into this favourites post - the High Droxy One Soft Cream, which I always have with me when I go visit my parents because it's so handy and perfect for my travel skincare bag, and then there's the Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream, which I'm about to run out of but I will definitely repurchase this one! It has a lovely texture and the effect it has had on my skin so far is just amazing! Let me know if you'd like a full review on this one soon!

So these are my top 5 Blogger Club favourites and I really just love all of them!

What do you think about these products? x

Skincare I'm Currently Testing

Usually, I try my best to stick to my skincare routine, no matter the season or time of year. But recently, I've been trying and testing some new and old skincare bits just to see how my skin reacts and if it makes any difference in the condition of my skin. It's behaving a bit weird lately and I can't find the reason for it so I hope it's going to change again with these new products!

First up, I've started using a few drops of pure peppermint oil in my moisturiser in the morning - it makes my skin look so radiant and healthy and it makes my skin feel super prepped for applying makeup afterwards! The one I'm using is the Grace & Stella Peppermint Oil 100& Pure & Natural and I not only love the effect it has in combination with my moisturiser but also the smell!

There are also two moisturisers that I've been testing and loving already! The Biotherm Skin Oxygen Cooling Gel feels amazing after a face mask and really cools the skin!
Then there's the Clinique Moisture Surge, which I've been using every single morning since I got it and I absolutely love it! I already mentioned this a couple of times on the blog and I just can't get enough of it!

Of course, I've been testing and using my The Ordinary acids as well but I've planned a post on both of them for next week so stay tuned for that! I have the Salicylic Acid 2% Solution, which I use in the morning and the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, which I use in the evening after my cleanser!

And last but not least I have two more Clinique products which I'm not 100% satisfied with yet. The Pep-Start Eye Cream has a lovely texture but I don't see an effect at all, which is a bit disappointing. It's the same with the Liquid Facial Soap but I'll make sure to give them a few more gos before actually stating an opinion on them!

Pink & Nude Toned Eyeshadows

Pinks and nudes are my go-to eyeshadow shades, that's really no secret anymore. So today I wanted to break down a few of my favourite quads, duos and palettes including these gorgeous shades!

Most of the products were already mentioned on the blog a couple of times so I won't go into that much detail with them.

As for single eyeshadows I have two; the Catrice Cosmetics Aqua Fresh Highlighting Eyeshadow, which is gorgeous although it has a really strange consistency, and the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow.

Dior, HypoAllergenic and Catrice also do and have some incredible small eyeshadow palettes with beautiful nude and pink shades in them! I actually have a few of them and I love them all!

The most beautiful palette I have at the moment, though is this one from IsaDora, which I received a few months ago and I totally adore it! I mean, just look at it! Isn't it pretty?

I rrally hope to discover some more beautiful palettes and quads this year, maybe even including some other shades...

What's your favourite eyeshadow shade? x
